There are several different types of work at home jobs. The five best work at home jobs is data entry, transcriptionist, customer service, freelance writer, and software development. Not everyone is cut out to work from home. It can either be a pleasure cruise or the gates to hell for some. However, working from home does have it perks and disappointments.
Data Entry
Data entry can be a good fit for anyone who is not looking to be on the phones all day or if they are a stay at home mom trying to find some extra income. Data entry requires the entry of data whether number or words at a fast typing rate and good accuracy. A majority of companies won’t even look at a resume without having at least a typing speed of 40wpm or better. An applicant needs to look around the internet and see which data entry job is best fit for them. Some data entry positions pay more than others and have better benefits.
Transcriptionist
For stay at home moms, this would be another good job that doesn’t require being on the phones. Transcriptionists listen to audio recording and type out the recording as they hear it verbatim. However, some transcriptionists’ positions require long hours of sitting in front of the computer. If a stay at home mom has no transcription experience there are a lot of places that offer training for it.
Customer Service
Customer service positions are relatively simple and easy if we enjoy talking and have customer service experience. The average stay at home mom with two kids would not be an ideal fit for customer service unless it’s by chat only. These positions normally require employees to be on the phones for an eight-hour shift or longer. However, if there is a quiet place in your home, free of distractions, and noises then customer service may be the right fit.
Freelance Writer
A freelance writer is a writer that can pick and choose their assignments as they come. Doing this job as a profession can be rather relaxing if we enjoy writing and sharing our thoughts. For us that dread seeing that essay, project, and/or writing an assignment for school or college, writing may not it. However, there are all different types of freelance writers. There are writers that just write short stories, articles, and magazine columns. Stay at home moms would be a good fit for this job because you’re not on the phones and not tied to a single place. Having a laptop and an internet connection is all you need to be a freelance writer.
Software Development
An individual that loves to solve problems, work with numbers, sit for long periods of time, and loves math then software development is it. Software development requires a lot of patience when creating software. When creating software there are no pictures or icons. A software developer works from scratch with numbers and letters to create software. To become a successful developer we must first get a bachelor’s degree in either computer science or software development. If we are not wanting to develop software on our own then a degree is the way to go. Stay at home moms that have extra time on their hands and would like to go back to college this would be a good job for working at home.
